Winter Shoot: 5 self confidence tips ☽

Friday, February 02, 2018
I’m up late tonight for various reasons, and instead of stalking Justin Bieber on instagram, (so hot), I decided to blog about self confidence.

What makes a person confident? Is it because they are beautiful? Strong? Killer body? Is it because others make them feel worth while? Confidence comes from a bunch of sources...and we all know some sources are legit, and some are not.

True self confidence should come from within. It should be a source of power that you control all on your own. Many of us feel the need to be liked. We try to play a part, fit a mold of some sort that we think other people will admire. But where does the mold come from? Once again, faulty sources...media, tv, Hollywood , high school, peers, etc. We can definitely learn from the ideas of others, but at the end of the day, BE YOURSELF! Don’t hide things about yourself in fear of not being accepted.

I dated a guy once who was really good at math. I never did anything math related when I was around him, because I didn’t want him to think I was dumb. One day we were hanging out and he asked me a simple math question. I got super flustered and embarrassed, and I answered wrong. Awful right? Well, we broke up, not because of math, but because I couldn’t be myself with him. I didn't feel accepted. How terrible would it be to live with someone for the rest of your life that you couldn't be totally open and crazy with? Now, when math comes my way, I count on my fingers, I pull out my calculator, I flat out say “ I have no freakin clue.” And guess what? Matt does not judge me for it! And that feels awesome! There is nothing more liberating than having the freedom to be your honest self.

Here are my 5 tips for self confidence.

1. You can try to gain appropriate approval from others, but be just as content without it.

2. Love your body: Treat it right and feed it right. It’s hard to love your body when you eat junk all day and never workout.

3. Tell people what’s on your mind: don’t tell a stranger about your weird dreams, but get to know people honestly, and build up relationships with no facades and no walks.

4. Accept compliments: don’t push compliments away because it feels awkward. If someone is telling you something honest, accept it and BELIEVE it.

5. Be weird: everyone is weird in their own way. There is no such thing as a perfect proper person. Stop caring what you look like to others, and get out and do what you want!
